She was just four years old when her first role as an actor was as a character in T is for Tumbleweed. It was nominated as an Oscar Award for the short film. There is widespread belief that Anne did not want to play Laurie Strode for John Carpenter's 1978 film, Halloween. Jaime Lee Curtis was given the part. Carpenter has claimed that they were interested in her but she declined. Anne doesn't recall ever approached with the name of John Carpenter nor being offered the role. It is possible that an agent declined the role for her without informing her. Glen Larson, who had provided her with the first draft script of a character in the television series Battlestar Galactica from 1978, initially chose her. She initially rejected the role because the character didn't seem robust. Glen developed a different character to play Sheba and it was more powerful. After she read the initial 25 pages of the story The Living Legend she accepted the part immediately. It ran for a single season. She appeared in Joyride (1977) which was a film in which she co-starred as well as was in the film with Desi Arnaz Jr. Melanie Griffith, Robert Carradine.
